TECHNIQUE
Fluid Mechanics brings advanced competitive swimming concepts to life through the use of our unique visual learning system, FM VisionWorksTM and FM Avatar Animations. Simply put, swimmers see it, then do it.
Our comprehensive technique curriculum is based largely on the teachings of legendary US Olympic coach Dr. James Counsilman. Author of The Science of Swimming, Doc Counsilman is largely regarded as one of the most successful swim coaches in World Swimming history. Learn more about Counsilman
Swimmers get faster by increasing stability and propulsion, minimizing drag, and grasping concepts such as hydro dynamics and pressure fields to better understand how their motions affect their movement.
FM Special Events are group events that are offered on a seasonal basis focusing on specialty areas of competitive swimming. These events cover topics that swimmers may otherwise never have an ability to learn about. Our team of highly trained and experienced swimming experts provide a unique experience centered around race-specific training and stroke development to help every swimmer tap into their potential. We take pride in educating swimmers on how to achieve their goals by understanding what targets they need to hit so they can improve faster than ever before.

Have you ever been able to find out your time splits prior to the race? Do you know what your stroke rate is? How do you plan on spending energy during each portion of the race? To guide swimmers in the right direction, Fluid Mechanics has developed an innovative program called Race Mapping.
Race Mapping allows us to create a specific blueprint for swimmers to reference at any point during the training and remove the guesswork. You will learn how to increase your speed by regulating strokes, breathes, and energy allocation in five yard increments throughout your race. Additionally, swimmers will pick a primary event and, working alongside FM Experts, identify what techniques the swimmers need to execute in these five critical areas of their race. By looking at key variables such as distance per stroke, stroke rate, and breathing frequency, Fluid Mechanics identifies key strategic areas where a swimmer can take advantage of their competition.

One of the most critical aspects for swimmers is to understand the relationship between themselves and the water. Fluid Mechanics has developed a special program called Hydro Dynamics where swimmers gain a better understanding of the environment they are in and develop a better feel for the water.
While these principles may seem counter intuitive, people may be surprised to learn high levels of effort do not always translate into high levels of return. The relationship a swimmer has to water is often overlooked and therefore not properly exploited to achieve maximum results.
Fluid Mechanics uses an innovative approach to give swimmers an important view of the environment they are working in.This methodology helps swimmers reduce water resistance, increase stability, harness propulsive forces, and manipulate water formations to move with greater efficiency. Through a clear understanding of hydro dynamics, swimmers learn how to stop spinning their wheels and gain more traction in the water, resulting in faster swimming!
